BASIS Team Leader Resources
Thank you for taking on the role of Team Leader for your BASIS team!
Here are some resources we thought you might help you as a team leader to have all in one place. Working with your team to find dates you can go out to classrooms
Here are some tools that may help you and your team find dates that you can go out to classrooms
- Doodle.com
- when2meet.
com - Google forms - Good for if you have already chosen dates, but need to figure out who is available on each date
How to let CRS know what dates your team wants to go to classrooms
- Fill out the Team Schedule Survey - This survey helps give CRS all the information we need for scheduling your programs with classrooms. Only needs to be filled out once per semester. Any questions? Contact teach@crscience.org.
- It's best to give us at least two weeks' notice for a new date. Sometimes we can schedule them in a shorter timeline, but a little bit of lead time makes it a lot easier.
- Once you fill out the survey, we will contact you to confirm we received the information and to ask any questions if we need any clarification. We will then send your dates out to teachers. We will get back to you as soon as possible with a classroom match. It generally takes at least a week from when we get your dates to when we have a confirmed match. Please hold all the dates you gave us on your calendars, or update us as soon as you know you can't teach on one of your lesson date. Sometimes it takes a little while to match all the dates.
You have your dates scheduled, Now what?
- Reach out to the teacher(s) you are matched with to confirm details
- Here is a more complete Classroom Visit Checklist for in person lessons
- Check out our tips & tricks for virtual outreach for ideas on how to teach on a virtual platform like Zoom
- We will send out a reminder to you and the classroom teacher the week before the scheduled visit (unless it was scheduled just the week before)
- Email the teacher with the list of scientists who will be attending, so they aren't left in the waiting room.
- If scientists are just observing (not actively leading lesson), keep your camera and mic off so that students know which of the guests they should pay attention to and not get distracted.
After your program
- Please fill out the post-BASIS survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BASISeval
- We can reimburse some travel expenses in certain circumstances
