Professional Development
Cross-Curricular Learning Centered in Science

Monday, July 21, 2025
8:30 am to 3:30 pm

Centered on FOSS Curriculum
Lawrence Hall of Science

With FOSS curriculum as the anchor, participants will learn how to harness the power of high-interest science to spur curiosity-driven, cross-curricular learning that integrates math and language arts. Throughout the year, you’ll be invited to participate in small same-grade cohorts of peer teachers, planning and implementing integrated lessons and sharing your successes, culminating in a celebration of science (and achievement across the curriculum).

Community Resources for Science is teaming up with the Bay Area Science Project and The Lawrence Hall of Science to offer an innovative professional development and peer support opportunity for elementary teachers. Learn new strategies, access new tools and resources, and gain momentum through peer co-planning and reflection to drive learning for your students to new heights in the new year.

Kick-off the collaboration with a full-day PL workshop at UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science. Monday, July 21, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, $100 stipend plus other benefits

All TK-5 teachers who love science, value planning time, and enjoy collaborating with others are encouraged to attend! Join us for an action-packed day at U.C. Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science to explore science, math, and ELA/ELD connections. Curriculum developers from FOSS, along with staff from the Bay Area Science Project (BASP) and Community Resources for Science, invite you to roll up your sleeves along with colleagues to bring those awesome ideas for integrated lessons and units to life.
Collaboration is key, so please invite a grade-level colleague to join you.
Teachers will receive a $100 stipend, a one-day family pass to the Lawrence, discounts at the museum store, and other goodies!

Optional: Join the Joyful Learning cohort for two additional collaboration sessions and a Spring celebration

  • Virtual Collaboration Session, Saturday, September 27 (9-11 am)
  • Virtual Collaboration Session, Saturday, February 7 (9-11 am)
  • Celebration Event, at Lawrence Hall of Science, Spring 2026, date TBD, ($100 stipend plus prizes for completion of 2 virtual workshops and submission of student work samples) CEU credit available.
