Community in the Classroom

Getting Kids Excited About Science!

A CIC volunteer describes his presentation to educators. View more CIC photos.

Our Community in the Classroom program connects scientist volunteers with classrooms in Alameda County public elementary schools. Volunteers give fun, hands-on presentations on a wide variety of topics connected to elementary science standards. CRS Member Teachers can request these free presentations at any time!

In the past year, we've trained 48 classroom volunteers who have in turn reached over 600 children in Alameda County elementary schools. Kids, teachers, and volunteers alike love this program!
